I'm Still Here

Journal Entry: Thu May 28, 2009, 10:42 PM
I'm just posting a quick journal entry in order to give a quick update on my statues. I've been almost completely inactive for the past month. Part of the reason for my inactivity is that I'm busy. Finding a full-time job has become my full-time job. I currently have a part-time job, but I have no benefits and I don't make enough money to move out of my parents house. However, the job market looks even worse than I thought it would be. There's much competition and employers are demanding so much that I feel like I'll never find anything.

Another problem is that I've lost interest in DA and art in general. I have no idea why because just two months ago I was pretty active, bent on making new friends, and interested in improving my art. Now? I don't care. I feel bad because I felt like I was starting to get close to some of my watchers, but I just can't muster up any enthusiasm for the community. I'm so sorry if this has hurt anyone's feelings. If you're still interested in contacting me, you're always welcome to contact me via Yahoo or AIM. My information is on my DA page.

I have Friday and Saturday off. I'm going to use that time to finish up an art trade. Then I'm going to start working on a request. After those two pictures are done, I don't know what I'll do. I noticed that some of my watchers have de-watched me. I can't say I blame them. I honestly don't know if I'm going to post any new art after the pictures I promised/owe are finished.

Features, Graduation, Inactivity, and Moping

Features, Graduation, Inactivity, and Moping

I've officially had my last day of class, which means I'm done with graduate school! Go me!

Some of you have probably noticed how inactive I've been on DA lately. Sometimes I get too emotionally involved in this community and I need to take a break in order to distance myself. Awhile ago I got involved in an argument on DA . I tried to explain my side of the argument as someone from with my views on the issue, but I failed. Whenever something like this happens, both online and IRL I tend to agonize over what I did wrong. What could I have said differently make this person understand me? I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I wish to have my views understood. I need to accept this is an impossible task and stop obsessing. The truth is that I'm a pretty immature person, so it's difficult for me to let go and let things slide. I kept thinking about this argument over and over again, which convinced me I needed to step away from DA and Internet activity in general before I started coming across as a basket case. Also, I have been pretty busy lately with real life business.

Anyway, I apologize for being so inactive. I'll get back to posting and commenting soon.

Now that I'm done whining, I have May's features to display! Who are this month's lucky duckies? :XD: On to the features!

:iconchicaramirez:'s art is amazing! When I first saw her gallery, I could not believe she was only 14 years-old. While her line are is fantastic, her coloring is probably my favorite part of her work. Her colors are bright and vivid, but still pleasing to look upon.

:iconumbra-flower: is another young artist with a great sense of color. Her style is both distinct and adorable.

:icondieuchien: is my sister in real life, but that's not why I featured her. She's a very talented artist who, in my opinion, is grossly underappreciated. Please take a look at her great gallery!

:iconnalamate: is both a talented artist and a complete sweetheart. Her bubbly personality and cute artwork make her gallery worth checking out.

:iconkaylathebat: has developed a cute, unique style of her own. I love her interpretation of her the various Sonic characters.

:iconsailor-nova-s: already now what I think of her artwork. :XD: She's very skilled and her gallery is diverse. Both her original art and fan art are worth seeing.

Well, that's it for now. See you next month with more features!

Features!

Features

Hello everyone! Like a lot of users, I've decided to devote a journal to featuring various artist here on DA. Not sure how often I'll do this, but I'll probably attempt feature journals on a monthly basis.

Artist featured here are people whose art I enjoy and deserve more attention. If you didn't get featured, that does not mean I don't like you or your art. Chances are I'm just saving you for a later feature.

Features

:iconlightmega777: has only been on DA a week or so, but she already has an impressive gallery. Please give this very promising artist your support and check out her art! You won't be disappointed.

:iconwingedhippocampus: is one of the friendliest people I've met on DeviantArt. She has an adorable style and her art is constantly improving. Her gallery is definitely worth a look.

:iconjoni-poni: is also pretty new to DeviantArt, so she isn't very well known yet. Her style is a nice twist on the Sega Sonic style and her fancharacters are well designed.

:icontheambassador: is one talented individual who seriously doesn't update often enough. :giggle: But seriously, his sense of anatomy is very strong, which I really admire. His coloring is also very nice.

:iconcafe-star: sadly hasn't updated his gallery in a few months. Still, his gallery is very much worth browsing through. Both his style and coloring are amazing. He also possesses a wonderful sense of humor, which shines through in some of his pieces.

:iconmetalpandora:'s gallery is pure eye candy! It's obvious she puts a lot of effort into each piece. I love her take on the Sonic style and her coloring is fantastic.

Well, that's it for April's features! I hope you enjoyed them.

A Long Belated Hello

Sat Mar 28, 2009, 9:15 PM
I don't know what drove me to write in this journal. I haven't used it once in the four years I've been on DA. It feels strange, I guess, having nothing written in it; most Deviants have something, so why not me. Don't know if anyone will actually read this, so I'll make it short.

The good news is that I'm a month away from getting my master's degree. Yay! The bad news is that I'm a month away from searching for a job in this economy. Woe! I do have a part time job at a public library, which is well and good, I can't support myself on my current salary. I desire a job that will let me move out of my parents' house! THE QUEST BEGINS. >:O

Currently I have a problem involving student loans. Supposedly, I owe $15,000 on a loan I never signed a master promissory note for, never received a penny of, and was distributed while attending a school I've never set foot in. While I did take out loans while attending Wayne State, my current school, I signed the note for them, received notices about them from the lenders, actually got the money and they all show up on my credit report. No of these things can be said about this other loan. Don't worry, I'll get to the bottom of this.

Feel free to ask me any questions you might have about me, my art or my characters. It's unlikely anyone will, I think, but I might as well offer.

REQUESTS: Friends, people I watch and/or my active watchers only. You have to fall into one of these categories. Sorry.

ART TRADES: Most of the time I'll say yes. However, I might decline a trade if I'm busy or if your art is way below my own skill level. I'm sorry if that sounds elitist, especially since I'm not a great artist myself, but I want the art trade to be fair. Basically, I don't want to spend hours drawing a picture just to get a crude stick figure in return.

COMMISSIONS: lol! I'd offer, but I honestly think no one would pay for my art. I'm an extremely unpopular artist. Maybe once I get a few more active watchers I'll come up with prices and whatnot.
